Today, we launched the Sui Developer Workshop at Gyalpozhing College of Information Technology (GCIT), Bhutan, beginning with an Introduction to Sui and Sui CLI Installation. The session saw strong engagement from students eager to explore blockchain development, with Phuntso from Druk Holding and Investments (DHI) joining us to underline the importance of this initiative for Bhutan’s digital future.

This is more than a local event — it’s a key step in expanding the Sui developer ecosystem in South Asia. By training Bhutanese students to use the Sui CLI, write smart contracts, and deploy applications, we are nurturing the first wave of Sui-native developers in Bhutan.
Why Bhutan Matters for Sui
Bhutan is uniquely positioned to play a strategic role in the growth of Sui:
- Government-backed support for Web3: The Royal Government of Bhutan has already made significant investments in blockchain exploration, including digital identity and financial infrastructure.
- Partnership with Animoca Brands: Bhutan’s collaboration with Animoca highlights its intention to connect with global leaders in gaming, digital assets, and blockchain innovation.
- Untapped developer talent: GCIT is Bhutan’s premier IT institution, and by directly empowering its students, Sui can become the first blockchain they build with, anchoring loyalty and expertise early on.
For Sui, this workshop represents not just education, but ecosystem expansion in a high-potential region. Bhutan’s entry into blockchain is inevitable — and Sui has the chance to be at the heart of it.
A Long-Term Investment in the Sui Ecosystem

Over the coming weeks, students at GCIT will move from fundamentals to advanced topics like Move programming, Programmable Transaction Blocks, zkLogin, decentralized storage with Walrus, and live smart contract development. By the end of the program, they will have hands-on experience deploying projects on Sui — laying the groundwork for real builders who can contribute to the ecosystem immediately.
