After a month of meticulous planning and intense preparation—from the initial concept to its flawless execution—we successfully hosted Sui Hacker House — Kathmandu, bringing together developers from Nepal, India, and Bhutan, alongside guests from across the globe. Special guests Harrison Kim and Amogh Gupta from the Sui Foundation also graced the event with their presence.
Backed by Sui Foundation, Walrus, and Vendetta, it was an incredible week full of hands-on building, collaboration, and community.
Highlights by Day
April 20: Arrivals
Guests arrived and settled in. We hosted a casual warm-up session to welcome everyone and introduce the Sui ecosystem.
April 21: Day 1
Official Kickoff! We covered the event flow, tracks, and prizes, followed by a workshop on SUI, Walrus, and Sui Overflow. We broke the ice with a tech-themed Bingo, pitched project ideas, and wrapped the day with a walk up to Swayambhunath for sunset views and a bit of reflection.
April 22: Day 2
A morning of meditation and sound healing with Santoshi Ma’am helped reset minds. This was followed by a technical workshop on zkLogin and a full day of hacking.
April 23: Day 3
Teams continued refining their ideas, followed by a session by Jet Lim on PTB Builder. Teams shared mid-demos and later wrapped up with a much-needed futsal match to blow off steam.
April 24: Day 4
Momentum stayed high. We had a knowledge-sharing session with Tshering Doka Gurung and Rohan, played a chaotic round of Simon Says, snapped some group photos, and pushed through the final stretch of building.
Across all of this, something meaningful was happening: we weren’t just building projects, we were building relationships. A lot of these devs had never met before — now they were talking about collabs, startups, and future meetups. That’s the magic of Hacker House, and it’s exactly what we hoped to see as we keep growing the Sui builder community in Nepal.
